There has been so much talk of weddings! It's nice to know that pleasant things (like love and the joining of two families) can still happen despite the state of chaos the world seems to be in as of the late.

The owls coming into the department today are quite literally up to my eyeballs. I've never seen so many reported cases of improper use of magic. Honestly! Aren't Hogwarts students back in school? Are children under 10 really committing so much illegal use of magic? Where are their parents!?

Now, it's my turn to have a discussion over something obscure. So, here is your topic for the day: Fate. Do you believe in it? Do things happen for a reason or is everything just by chance? What do you believe? Discuss.

I wish I could remember something clever so I could fuel a discussion as well! These random thoughts about foods and animals are certainly at least a try to distract everyone from the horrors of what seems to be going on in the world.

And to think, we all hoped this year was going to be so much better. It's not even a full four weeks into 1980 and I already hate it. I'm certain I'm not alone in that hatred either. We have to deal with this year for another 11 months, folks! Maybe I should just go abroad and hide.

It's official. I no longer feel safe. Hope? We need to see someone that can strengthen the wards on our flat. Another attack? It's been less than a week since the last one.

Christmas was lovely and quite. I got to see my family gathered in one room for the first time since last Christmas. I suppose we're all too busy these days. I also remembered to give everyone their Christmas presents and I think that's reason enough to celebrate! I hope you lot had a nice holiday too.

I got a lovely new poster of Kamal Nehru from my brother. It's bloody brilliant. It would be better with his signature, but a bird can dream, right? I think I'm going to purchase another Remembrall for myself. I deserve a Christmas present, right? Sure why not.

All of this talk about New Year's and resolutions has me thinking myself. I think this year I want to volunteer and give back to the community. I don't want to work with old wizards though. They creep me out. Maybe a youth organisation or an animal shelter? Does anyone else volunteer?
